SMS (Text Message) Consent

Last updated: March 2025

ShieldInspect sends SMS (text) messages only to users who have given consent. This page describes how consent is obtained and how recipients can opt out. We use Twilio to deliver SMS. Message and data rates may apply.

1. Who receives SMS

Only Compliance Leads (users assigned to complete mock inspections at one or more locations) may receive SMS. We do not send marketing or promotional text messages. We do not share phone numbers with third parties for their marketing.

2. What we send

We send inspection-ready notifications only: a short message when a mock inspection has been activated (scheduled or surprise) and is ready for the Compliance Lead to complete. Each message includes the location name and a link to open the audit in the app. Example: "ShieldInspect: Your scheduled inspection for [Location] is ready. [link]"

3. How consent is obtained (opt-in)

Consent is obtained only when the user adds a phone number in their ShieldInspect account:

  • User signs in at ShieldInspect and goes to Account (account settings).
  • In the "Name & phone" section, the user enters their phone number and saves.
  • By saving a phone number, the user expressly consents to receive SMS inspection-ready notifications at that number. We do not send SMS to users who have not added a phone number.

This consent is documented in our Terms of Service (Section 3a) and Privacy Policy. When adding a phone number, users may also be shown a consent checkbox that links to this page.

4. Message frequency

Messages are sent only when an inspection is ready for that user (typically when a scheduled inspection activates or a surprise inspection is created). Frequency depends on how often the account owner runs or schedules inspections for the locations the Compliance Lead is assigned to—often a few times per month or less. We do not send recurring marketing or automated drip campaigns.

5. How to opt out (stop SMS)

Users may withdraw consent at any time by removing their phone number in Account settings (Name & phone section). After the number is removed, we will not send further SMS to that number. Users can also reply STOP if we support that in the future; until then, removing the phone number in Account settings is the definitive way to opt out.

6. Help and contact
